Keep On Believing (Luke 18:1-8) - The Daily Ex Message for February 13

Are you praying for a love one to be saved from the sin of homosexuality?

Even if you do not see the answer manifested yet, do not give up even in the face of adversity. While that wayward child, family member or friend may, in the natural, seem nowhere near victory, the truth is God will not withhold the prayer given in faith.

You can be sure since your prayer lines up with that of His word and His will, he is just to answer.

The Persistent Widow

How do we know this? Jesus himself told the disciples a parable to illustrate this fact in Luke 18:1-8 (NIV), the parable of the Persistent Widow:

1 Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. 2 He said: “In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared what people thought. 3 And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, ‘Grant me justice against my adversary.’ 4 “For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, ‘Even though I don’t fear God or care what people think, 5 yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won’t eventually come and attack me!’” 6 And the Lord said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says. 7 And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? 8 I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?”

If you will do like the persistent widow, and continuously ask the Father to restore your loved one and then thank him for what he has done and is doing in the life of your loved one, you can be sure you will see them restored. Even if it takes one year, two years, ten years, God wants us to show our faith and keep believing for His will. While the answer may not come right away, you can be sure it will come.

This is what my own mother did several years ago when I was away from God's will for my own life. I was living this lifestyle which was so far from where I needed to be. But, wouldn't you know, my Mom never gave in, even on days when I gave her grief for not supporting gay marriage, for not voting against the state's marriage amendment, for failing to support me the way I thought she should.

And, instead of getting discouraged the further I dug myself into the hole of dispair, my Mom lifted me up in prayer and said, "God, it is in your hands." Wouldn't you know it, five years later, my Mom's answer came in the form of the Holy Spirit rising up within my rebellious body and God breaking the chains which held me.

I did not even have to pray the prayer of faith for myself, the change was manifested in my life, and today I am living a life that is truly blessed and steeped in the will of God. None of these things would be possible had it not been for my Mom persistently asking our incredible, amazing and able Father in heaven to reach into my core and change who I was.

You have divine favor, and a God who loves you more than you can even fathom. Whether you are struggling in the hardship of what you see or just have wavering faith that your loved one will never change, pray with me:

Lord Jesus, I thank you for today. Your word says you have given us a measure of faith strong enough for today. We lay our loved ones stricken with same-sex attraction at the cross, where you shed his blood for us, While in our human mind it may seem impossible, we serve a God who makes all things possible. We pray right now that these brothers and sisters, children created by the hands of Almighty God, will be free from the bondages of their sins. Loose the chains, Jesus, and restore them in body, heart, soul and mind to the ways of Heaven and not the ways of the world. We bind the enemy over them, in the name of Jesus, and rejoice because we know in this moment, we will see this prayer answered. Amen!
