What the Bible Does Not Say About Gay and Lesbian People
74
While many liberal Christian churches and organizations teach a theology which excludes homosexuality from what we normally consider sin, scripture is clear: Homosexuality is not an honorable lifestyle to God.
While homosexuality in the Bible categorizes the physical act of sexual relations between two men or two women as sin (and this list is certainly not exhaustive), the work of Jesus Christ and the salvation which came after what he did at Calvary over 2000 years ago is strong enough to cover gay and lesbian people.
Myth: All Gays and Lesbians Are Condemned to Hell
Unfortunately, a lot of churches get God's grace in Jesus Christ totally wrong, at the cost of alienating a lot of people, including those who believe they are gay or lesbian. Instead of preaching faith, some condemn the homosexual and rather than plant seed in their life, turn away gays and lesbians at the door.
Romans 3 is an amazing study of this grace, which is radical in that rather than condemnation for our sins, for we all fall short, WE (including homosexuals) who believe in what Christ Jesus did on the cross become righteous.

Jesus Took the Penalty for All Sins, Including Homosexuality
While the gay and lesbian person may have engaged in a sinful lifestyle, Romans 3 is clear: Anybody can be saved from condemnation for their mistakes if only they believe Jesus Christ died on the cross for their sins:
Romans 3:22-26: But now apart from the Law the righteousness of God has been manifested, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, 22even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all those who believe; for there is no distinction; 23for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus; 25whom God displayed publicly as a propitiation in His blood through faith. This was to demonstrate His righteousness, because in the forbearance of God He passed over the sins previously committed; 26for the demonstration, I say, of His righteousness at the present time, so that He would be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.
Myth: People Are Born Gay
Although science might suggest there is reason to believe homosexuality is a birth-acquired trait like eye color or the shape of your ears, the truth is God creates us for fellowship with Him. Inherent same-sex attraction would only stand in the way of that, even though God gives us free will to choose His will and His son, Jesus.
He Knew You Before You Were Formed...
Even before you were conceived, scripture tells us God already knew us. Psalm 139:14 tells us that we are "fearfully and wonderfully made," and that he made us not with confusion as to who we are, but of sound mind--the mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 14:33 NIV, 2 Timothy 1:7 KJV).
So, where does homosexuality come from?
I believe, as Ephesians 6:12 acknowledges, persons with same-sex attraction have been victimized by the spiritual warfare which exists against humankind, perverting God's original perfect and beautiful work so that they are confused in mind and sinful in body. Indeed, as I myself experienced, this crime against God's children can occur in children as young as preschool through anytime of a person's life.
Trust God, Not Man
While science can be worthwhile, God operates in a realm that defies science and human understanding. Have faith in His word: God will never steer you wrong, and the Holy Spirit is there to guide you. Remember as Isaiah 2:22 says if you ever have self doubt, or are confronted with a study or wrong teaching which says homosexuality is a trait inherited at birth:
Stop regarding man in whose nostrils is breath, for of what account is he?

Myth: Sexuality Cannot Be Changed by God
If you search long enough, chances are you will find a lot of people who say sexual orientation cannot be changed. However, we must remember that God's ways defy understanding, especially from those who fail to acknowledge Him as their creator.
Many secular sources condemn ex-gay ministry as being evil and quote human psychologists and therapists who label our Christian faith and beliefs as "dangerous." Unfortunately, the only thing dangerous is failing to accept God's will for our lives.
While I cannot say for certain ex-gay camps or ministries are able to change sexual orientation, because they are run by human hands (which are fallible), our God is all powerful and will answer the prayer which aligns with his will and said in faith. Mark 11:24 (NLT) is clear:
I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you've received it, it will be yours.
When you accept Jesus Christ into your heart, Romans 12:2 (NLT) says we must no longer copy the customs of the world--including homosexual sex and relationships. But, God knows we cannot accomplish it alone, so look what the Word says he will do for those that are willing:
...let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
Transformed. Renewed. From homosexual to heterosexual, by the grace of God. And, according to Ephesians 2:1-5 (NLT), you will never be the same... you will be ALIVE in Christ Jesus:
Once you were dead because of your disobedience and your many sins. 2 You used to live in sin, just like the rest of the world, obeying the devil—the commander of the powers in the unseen world.[a] He is the spirit at work in the hearts of those who refuse to obey God. 3 All of us used to live that way, following the passionate desires and inclinations of our sinful nature. By our very nature we were subject to God’s anger, just like everyone else.
4 But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, 5 that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!)
Myth: God Does Not Love and Will Not Save Homosexuals
If you are gay or lesbian, but feel compelled as you read this to change, it is no surprise. God has been waiting on you to get in touch with Him. His Holy Spirit is guiding you in this moment, and all it takes to get started onto the path of victory in leaving homosexuality behind is to accept Christ Jesus into your heart.
If you do not know Jesus Christ, you can learn about his sacrifice for your life and how he died on the cross for your sins. And, once you've gotten to know the son of our Heavenly Father better and how His crucifixion has saved you, you can accept him by speaking these words:
Heavenly Father, I know I am a sinner. I ask for your help to do what is right. Help me with my temptations and loose the chains of the enemy, so I can be free from homosexuality. I know you have always loved me, and that this is the first step towards a lifetime of blessing, grace and mercy. I believe your son Jesus died for my sins. I ask Him to come into my heart, wash me clean. As your word says, I am now a new creature in Christ and have an expectation you will help me from now on in every area of my life. Jesus is Lord! Amen.
Once you have prayed that simple prayer, the Bible says you are saved and are now the righteousness of God in Jesus Christ's name. Get in a good Bible-believing church and learn more about how to come out as ex-gay from our resources on The Daily Ex-Gay.
God bless you and welcome to the community of God's chosen! He's got GREAT things for you ahead! We love you and are glad you are saved today!

I will vote that up and across and you have said it so well. You probably will not make a lot of friends carrying in this truth (as I well know) but I am glad to see it and that you do not preach hate against Gays because it is true it is a sin and all sin is forgivable but Christian people and Churches that teach Gay is OK is in danger of hell fire themselves. They love to scream hate at the only ones who care to tell the truth, regardless. Many do not think Sodom and Gomorrah was about Gays. All these can read you would think but we have religious men here giving scripture to prove Gay is alright and at least one claiming Jesus was Gay. It is really so very sad and the easiest thing to do would be to say nothing but it is not the right thing. I stand by you, you have given the word of God, that is all that is needed.
